Use inq with Claude and ChatGPT

Connect your inq account to an AI assistant and ask it about your handwritten notes. When you ask, it reads your notebooks, pages, handwriting transcripts and page images. It can't change or delete anything in inq.

inq server URL

https://mcp-demo.inq.live/mcp

You sign in with your inq account the first time you connect.

Claude

On claude.ai or in Claude Desktop:

  1. Go to Customize › Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
  2. Name it inq, paste the server URL above and add it.
  3. Click Connect, sign in to inq and choose Allow.
  4. In a chat, make sure inq is turned on, then ask away.

Once added, inq is also available in the Claude mobile app and in Cowork. On Team and Enterprise plans, an organization Owner adds the connector and each member clicks Connect. The Free plan allows one custom connector.

Claude Code

  1. Add the server in your terminal:
claude mcp add --transport http inq https://mcp-demo.inq.live/mcp
  2. In Claude Code, run /mcp, pick inq and authenticate. Your browser opens the inq sign-in; choose Allow.

ChatGPT

  1. Open Plugins, choose Add, then Add custom MCP server.
  2. Name it inq, paste the server URL above and save.
  3. Sign in to inq and choose Allow.

Custom MCP servers depend on your ChatGPT plan. When inq adds new capabilities, choose Refresh in the plugin's settings to get them.

Try asking

  • What notebooks do I have in inq?
  • Summarize the pages I wrote most recently in my Work notebook.
  • Read page 12 of my Meeting notes notebook and list the action items.
  • Show me the sketch on the latest page of my Design notebook.
  • Turn the table on page 3 of my Lab notebook into CSV.

Answers link to the pages they come from, so you can open them in inq.

What the assistant can see

  • Your notebooks and their pages, the handwriting transcripts, and images of the pages. Nothing else from your inq account.
  • A page gets a transcript once you open it in the inq app. Until then, the assistant can still look at the page image.
  • It reads only when you ask, and only the account you signed in with.
  • What it reads becomes part of your conversation, where the AI provider's privacy policy and data retention apply. See also inq's privacy policy.

Disconnect

Remove inq in the assistant's connector or plugin settings, or revoke its access in Connected Apps. Revoking stops access immediately.
